20ft x 20ft Container Shelter: Instant Covered Space Between Your Containers
The 20ft x 20ft Container Shelter creates 400 square feet of covered, weather protected space by spanning between two standard shipping containers. It installs without welding, requires no permanent foundation, and provides a durable overhead structure for storage, vehicle protection, workspace, or staff break areas at a fraction of the cost of a permanent building. If you already have two 20ft containers on your site, this shelter transforms the gap between them into usable covered area in a single day.
The heavy duty galvanized steel frame and commercial grade PVC shade cloth cover are engineered to withstand wind, rain, UV exposure, and years of outdoor service without significant maintenance. The ratchet tensioning system keeps the fabric taut and secure through changing weather conditions, and the arched design allows rain and debris to slide off naturally rather than pooling on the surface.
How It Works
The shelter mounts directly onto the top edges of two shipping containers positioned parallel to each other with a 6 meter gap between them. Pre drilled brackets attach to the container corners and top rails, and the galvanized steel frame arches across the span to create a covered area 6 meters wide, 6 meters long, and 4.9 meters high at the peak (when installed on high cube containers). The shade cloth PVC cover stretches over the frame and is secured using the included ratchet tensioning system. No specialist tools, no welding equipment, and no crane required for assembly.
Key Features
- Hot dip galvanized steel frame: Double galvanized cold formed steel tubing resists rust and corrosion for 15 or more years of outdoor service, even in coastal or humid environments.
- Commercial grade shade cloth PVC: A heavy duty mesh fabric with high tensile strength that is tear resistant, fire retardant, and UV resistant. Provides excellent ventilation while blocking the majority of direct sunlight and light rain.
- Ratchet tensioning system: Keeps the fabric cover tight and secure without sagging, even after temperature fluctuations cause expansion and contraction cycles.
- No welding installation: All connections use bolted brackets and pre drilled mounting points. Assemble with basic hand tools following the included step by step manual.
- Compatible with GP and HC containers: Works with both standard general purpose containers (approximately 2.6m high) and high cube containers (approximately 2.9m high).
- External clear top coat: The frame features an additional protective clear coat over the galvanizing for enhanced weather resistance.

Ventilation and Airflow
The shade cloth PVC cover is a mesh material that allows air to pass through while blocking UV radiation and light precipitation. This makes it ideal for applications where ventilation is important, such as vehicle storage (preventing moisture buildup and condensation), livestock shelter, workshop areas where fumes need to dissipate, and staff break areas that benefit from natural airflow. For fully enclosed weather protection, solid PVC covers and end walls are available as separate accessories.
Installation
- No permits typically required: As a non permanent structure without foundations, many jurisdictions do not require building permits (check local regulations).
- Step by step manual included: Clear assembly instructions allow installation without specialist knowledge or trade qualifications.
- Relocatable: The entire structure can be disassembled and moved to a new location as your site layout changes.
- Assembly time: Two people can typically complete installation within a single working day.
Ideal Applications
- Covered workspace between containers on construction sites
- Vehicle, machinery, and equipment weather protection
- Agricultural implement and hay storage
- Temporary warehousing and stock holding
- Staff break areas and amenity spaces
- Workshop and maintenance bay cover
- Event shelter and outdoor function cover
