Instead of a fixed steel roof, this container features a removable tarpaulin cover supported by steel bows that can be rolled back or removed entirely, giving cranes and overhead lifting equipment direct access to the full interior from above. Once loaded, the tarp is secured back into place with ropes or cables to provide weather protection during transit.
This is a one trip unit, manufactured to current ISO standards and used for a single voyage from the factory. It arrives in near pristine condition with factory paint intact, clean interior surfaces, and all hardware operating smoothly. How the Open Top Design Works
The container frame is built to the same structural standards as a standard dry container, but the fixed steel roof is replaced with a series of removable steel bows that support a heavy duty tarpaulin cover. When you need to load cargo from above, the bows are swung aside or removed and the tarp is rolled back, leaving the full top of the container open. Cranes lower cargo directly into position, and workers can secure it to the internal lashing rings before the tarp is replaced and fastened. The foldable end walls provide an additional loading option for long items that need to slide in from the end at an angle.

Open Top vs Hard Top
An open top container uses a flexible tarpaulin cover, which is lighter, easier to handle, and faster to remove than a solid steel roof panel. This makes it ideal for operations where top access is needed frequently or quickly. A hard top container uses a rigid steel roof that provides greater security and weather protection but requires a crane to remove. Choose open top when speed and frequency of loading are priorities; choose hard top when maximum protection and security matter most.
